CryoEM as a tool in structural biology Electron microscopy at low temperature is and important tool in structural biology. The techniques utilized can contribute significantly to understanding the relationship between structure and function of biological macromolecules. This is particular true for objects such as membrane proteins and large molecular assemblies since these are examples of structures, which are difficult to approach with X-ray crystallography or NMR. |
